S. White first came to my attention because I’m a P. Weller fan and I noticed his playing when he did tracks like dropping bombs on the white house and one of my old time favourites My ever changing mood. I liked White’s drum on the song bull rushes.
White did a lot of good work whilst he played with Weller. And in my personal opinion the drummer Weller uses today is not as good as White. I think Weller just wanted a change in the setup and therefore needed a change. This type of thing happens frequent. I personally think White would do well I any Rock band. I do not think they left on bad terms as Weller still speaks of him in a good way, in fact I can recently recall Weller saying I’ll love Whitey.
White showed his white in gold when he played classic covers like “will it go around in circles, forgot to be your lover, I point this out as I think the art of a good drummer is a man that knows how to spice up any track irrespective of the style of music your playing and White did that every time.
